JAMES SMITH POST, NO. 337.

This Post was chartered July 2, 1883, and in its name is perpetuated that of James Smith, late of the Second West Virginia Cavalry. James, son of Lanson and Amanda Smith, enlisted in the summer of 1861, in Company H, Second West Virginia Volunteer Cavalry. He was then in the first year of a manhood of great promise, a student at Ewington, Ohio. He was killed soon after entering service, and his remains brought home to Jackson county. They rest in the burial ground of Salem Church, Milton township.
