ANTHONY MARSH POST, NO. 231,

Meets at Keystone the second Saturday of each month.
This Post was chartered March 7, 1875, and named in memory of Anthony Marsh, late of the Ninety-First Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was born among the hills of Western Pennsylvania, near the Allegheny river, about 1830. When a young man he went to Minnesota, thence to Missouri, from where he moved to Ohio just prior to the opening of the late rebellion. August 12, 1862, he volunteered as private in Company K, Ninety-First Ohio Volunteer Infantry, and served with distinction through the war with that regiment; was early promoted a corporal, then sergeant, and finally was color-sergeant with Company C, till mustered out of service with regiment at close of the war. From his early youth until his death, he was a man of exceptional qualities, brave and unflinching in time of war, strictly moral and temperate all his life, he lived and died beloved by his fellow men. At the close of the war he returned to his home in Bloomfield township, Jackson county. He was accidentally killed by a falling brick at Winona Furnace, August 1, 1879. He left a wife and host of friends to mourn his loss. His remains were interred at Keystone Cemetery.
